How to Select Your NAICS Code

The North American Industry Classification System (NAICS) classifies businesses according to their primary economic activity. Appruv uses your NAICS code to help describe the type of work your company performs.

Select the appropriate code

Choose the six-digit NAICS code that most closely represents your company’s primary business activity.

If your company provides several services, select the code associated with its primary source of revenue or principal business activity. Do not select a code solely because it applies to a specific project if it does not represent your company’s normal operations.

Find your NAICS code

Use the appropriate official classification resource:

• United States: U.S. Census Bureau NAICS Search

• Canada: Statistics Canada NAICS

• Mexico: INEGI SCIAN Search

Search using terms that describe your company’s primary work. Review the full definition before selecting a code.

Update your NAICS code in Appruv

1. Log in to Appruv.

2. Select Manage Account.

3. Select Company Details.

4. Open the Business tab.

5. Locate the NAICS field.

6. Enter or select the applicable six-digit code.

7. Select Save.

If more than one code appears applicable

Select the code that best represents your primary business activity. Your Business Activities and client questionnaire responses can be used to identify additional services.

Note: Appruv cannot determine your official business classification. Consult your accountant, tax adviser, or the applicable government classification authority if you need assistance making a formal determination.
